Corrosion protection for salt-manufacturing plants are very important. So, we investigated some protective methods, especially cathodic protection with impressed currents using insoluble anodes.
The results obtained are summarized as follows:
(1) Cathodic protection with impressed currents are better than galvanic anodes system, economically and on technical view-point.
(2) Unsoluble anodes material are tested, and it concluded that magnetite anode are superior for our purpose in high concentration salt-water, and high silicon cast iron anode are usable, too.
(3) Practical conditions of cathodic protection for salt-manufacturing plant are as follows:
(a) Required protective current density …>0.5mA/cm
2-1mA/cm
2(b) Impressible voltage 2.5-4 Volt and in high temperature conditions, severe depolarizing action requires more large protective current density.
