    In Kagono area, Oita Prefecture, hydrothermally altered andesitic rocks are distributed, and in the altered rocks a spa sliding is being occurred. It is necessary to detect the sliding plane in the altered rocks for the construction of barrier to prevent or stop future sliding. This spa sliding is occuring even now gently inside the altered rocks. Seven borings were made in order to find the sliding plane. The authors tried to find the sliding plane checking the boring core samples and clay minerals included in core samples. The authors found an evidence in Kagono area that there is a close relationship between slip plane and clay mineral compositions in the spa sliding. It was clear that slip plane exists near the boundary between smectite zone and mixed-mineral zone of smectite and chlorite at every boring points, and smectite content is high in both zones.

    The Kumogi granite located in Kanagi-cho, Shimane Prefecture intruded along the Hamada cauldron wall in the late stage of Paleogene. Some parts of Kumogi granite are overlain by the Tsunodu formation. Several kinds of alteration phenomenon are recognized in the granite body, such as white clay veins, black manganese veins and pinkish and whife color altered parts. The mineralogical and chemical characterization of clay minerals formed in these veins and alteration parts of granite were analyzed by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM), scanning electron microscope (SEM) with EDX and Electron probe X-ray micro analyzer (EPMA). As results, tubular halloysite is mainly formed in altered granites and clay veins. In white and black veins, illite is recognized as associated mineral. Smectite is main constituent mineral with halloysite in the pinkish color altered parts. The black veins are constituted mainly of Mn (10-65wt% as oxide).
    Tubular halloysite crystals are generally formed by both weathering and hydrothermal process. According to Kitagawa et al.(1984), the tube width of hydrothermal halloysite is clearly narrower than that formed by weathering. The surface microtopographies of tubular halloysite crystals are different between weathering and hydrothermal products respectivelly.
    It is noted from these results that the Kumogi granite was altered by both hydrothermal and weathering.

    VERMICAL est un nom de VERMICULITE gonflée par traitements chimiques à basse température et l'état du milieu de désagrégation vers VERMICULIT E crue à VERMICULITE gonflée par chauffeur.
    VERMICAL est aussi restéà le caractère de vermiculite crue. C'est à dire que:
    1) Les eaux des cristallines changé réversible par l'humidité de l'extérieur.
    2) Les ions dans le couche du feuilletés sont exchangé facile les autres.
    3) Les feuilletés silice ne perdent pas (OH) groupe et tout a fait même les feuilletes de vermiculite crue.
    Généralement VERMICAL a usé près que même applications vermiculite gonflée par chauffeur. Mais VERMICAL sont ajoute quelqué nouvelle applications par suivi des images comme sciure et liège, et les caractères de VERMICULITE crue.
    Dans ce rapport nous informons nouvelles applicati ons de VERMICAL dans les division comme les matériaux aquiculture, agriculuture, horticulture et construction.
