    Zooplanktons and phytoplanktons have different habitat environment from one another depending on the species. Especially, with regard to water temperature, they can be classified into northern species who have a preference for low temperature, tropic species who have a preference for high temperature and a group of temperature independent species. Such biogeographic defferences coincide with the southern limit of dystrophic lake and northern limit of tropical lake, indicating that such a classification is useful as a limnobiogeographic indicator. The author proposes the new faunal realms (South Kurile & Eastern Hokkaido, Western Hokkaido & Simokita peninsula, Northern Nippon, Southern Nippon, and Ryukyu & Formosa) based on Rotatoria and Cladocera who show especially distinct limnobiogeographic distribution patterns.

    In the water pollution concentration computation model with general curvilinear coordinate system to have used up to this (for example, a 3-D Ise Bay simulator made by S.Chiba ), when there is a protrusion on the bottom of the sea, it is possible to compute along the topography of the bottom. In such a case it is very effective, but the other side, the basic equations with general curvilinear coordinate system are inconvenient to become complicated and not to treat simply. In the case of 2 -D topography, it will be enough in analysis which used an water pollution concentration computational model by the 2-dimensional Cartesian coordinates. Therefore, we newly developed the simplified computer program which solves a tidal velocity phase and a dissolved oxygen diffusion phase alternately in the time marching formula in the 2-dimensional Cartesian coordinates. It is assumed that a harbour with a mouth which sea water from outside the harbour enters has a small-sized river. We calculated the diffusion process of dissolved oxygen carried by the inflow and outflow variability for tidal movement and river discharge.

    This paper reports the land cover change of Yokkaichi City between 1987 and 1997. Two scenes of Landsat data, digital maps, and digital administrative boundary data are utilized for this study. Study area for Yokkaichi City has been extracted from remotely sensed data, classification is applied using same training fields between the two periods, and the results are compared geographically. It is also investigated categorically, and quantitative summary is reported.

    This century is often called as "Century of media". Various kinds of communication media have made rapid progress and grown to be major mass media. As a result, the distance between actual environment and the environment made by media have become enlarged. On the other hand, media have had a great influence over political, economical and cultural situations through this century. And now, the circumstance of media is at a great turning point. In this paper I take a general view on various and continual arguments about "pseudo-environment" by many scholars and journalists.

    The purpose of this paper is to study void-for-vagueness doctrine and appropriate sanctions of "due process" clause. The rights which young people are protect under The Constitution of Japan Article 31 are, nevertheless, today not infequently claimable against the Court's interpretation of void-for vagueness doctrine by "due process" clause.

    The purpose of this paper is to classify the patterns of calculation of the winter or summersolstice in Shou-shi-li, the last method of establishing the calendar before the Ming dynasty in China, and to make a strict interpretation of the original text on the basis of this classification. Some parts of the text have ambiguous expressions and we can not interpret them when we only consider each phrase in question. Our approach is valid for this question.

    This investigation has been carried out for three years since 1997 with the following two purposes. One was to determine the listening ability of students who took English Communication-Basic (hereinafter referred to as ECB) by having them evaluate listening materials. The other was to confirm which level of listening materials was most suitable for use in ECB classes and their self-study hours at home. I gathered information from about 100 students by the questionnaire method late in April or early in May each year. The result of the investigation revealed that 88 to 93% of the students (93% in '97,88% in '98,91% in '99) perceived the level of the radio program 'Eikaiwa Nyumon' broadcasted by NHK in April, 1997 favorably for self-study use, and 70 to 80% of them (80% in '97,70% in '98,75% in '99) had the impression that the level of the TV program 'Eikaiwa' broadcasted by NHK in the same month was most suitable for use in ECB classes. Furthermore, it was also confirmed that around 70% of the students (69% in '97,68% in '98,75% in '99) had the idea that the level of the radio program 'Eikaiwa' broadcasted by NHK in the same month was suitable for use in ECB classes.

    Two computer softwares, which were made to assist and enhance the education of Computer Science in Yokkaichi University, are introduced in this article. The first one called "Computer on Web" is a graphical Web application software written in the JavaScript language. It is utilized to give instruction for students about basic mechanics and operations in a CPU (Central Processing Unit) The second one called "ewin.h" is a header file used in the C language. Programming of Windows application is made only with basic knowledge of the C language by use of the header file. Introduction, method of utilization and sample programs for both softwares are described.
