This study investigated the improvement of navigation and delivery of academic literature by link-resolver. In this study, we selected academic literature that could not be navigated to by link-resolver but that which was available on the Web. We investigated the acquisition method and the source of such literature. We found that there is an issue with navigating to the freely available sites, such as the author's affiliation website or a publishing agency website, and Social Networking Services. To ensure effective navigation, it is necessary to improve the navigation system to freely accessible literature, and any additional requirements for suitable navigation should be taken up by the publisher or author. Although the search engine is a useful complementary tool, user support is also required to solve the issues of navigation to literature.
