It is investigated how much information for children's services has been described in 701 Japanese public library web sites, and how much usability is taken into account, especially in the web pages for children.
As the result, it is shown that the information, such as materials, spaces, and services for children, is not necessarily described enough in the web sites, from the viewpoints of public relations, in comparison with the present status of children's services. Furthermore, it is seen that the web sites in merely 123 public libraries (17.5%) include the web pages for children. In the web pages for children, the usability for children is relatively taken into account, from such a point of view as ease to read and ease of navigation.

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of alterations in writing systems on online users. Though writing systems on the web are many and various, this paper limits the discussion to "user registration" and "reply" functions. "User registration" function is the mechanism that a user can write messages only after the user registers oneself on the web site. "Reply" function is the mechanism that users answer the message written by a user. This paper discusses the effect of "user registration" and "reply" functions on the number and the content of writing. The results of this survey show the following. If there is no "user registration" functions, the number of writing do not increase and disturbances slightly appear. But the ratio of Radical Access Member (RAM) rises. If there is no "reply" functions, the number of writing do not increase and the ratio of RAM falls. Furthermore, topics are not deeply argued and are often switched.

This study examined the instructional methods for information ethics education at the senior high school. Two methods were used to teach information ethics. One was lecture-based and the other was by experience. Students were asked to write their reflections on the class. This study found differences in the reflections of the experimental group (N=23) and the control group (N=24). Most students who learned by experience pointed out difficulty in identifying a character through Internet. They considered about Internet anonymity from both point of view; a transmitter and a recipient. It is suggested that students who learned by experience were better able to understand the concept of Internet anonymity, although this effect was limited.
