The therapeutic effect of a cordless mini TENS on shoulder stiffness and painful diseases and patients' favorite intensity of stimulation were studied. Effect of this apparatus on peripheral circulation was also examind using a laser Doppler measuring instrument. The 114 cases with shoulder stiffness used the TENS only once (SS group), and the 53 cases continuasly (SC group). The 65 cases with painful diseases used the TENS only once (PS group) and the 53 cases continuasly (PC group). A great majority of the patients prefered stimulation with moderate frequency and high intensity. Effectiveness was seen in 76% of SS group and 87% of SC group, and in 75% of PS group and 91% of PC group. Peripheral circulation was significantly increased after the stimulation of the apparatus.

We conducted a comparative study on acupuncture and moxibustion treatment to 23 patients with cold sensitiveness and some sort of basal disorder, seperating them into two groups of 13 patients with hemiplegia and 10 non-cerebral apoplexy patients.
As a result, there was 60.9% improvement with cold sensitiveness patients with basal disorder from acupuncture and moxibustion treatment. When comparing them by the types of their basal disorder. there was a 53.8% improvement for hemiplegia patients and 70.0% improvement for the non-cerebral apoplexy patients. with the former having considerably low rate of improvement against the latter. The fact that the improvement rate of the hemiplegia patients were much lower than the average rate, can be presumed that the factors of local circulation failure due to functional disorder of the autonomic of the central nervrous system, in addition to the motor nerve palsy from organic disorder of the brain has some effect. Therefore, a central nervous system factor can be considered to have some impact on the mechanism of acupuncture and moxibution treatment to take effect.

We have conducted a comparative study on the tip of the tongue temperature change when acupuncture stimulus was applied to Shinmon using thermography of healthy and hemiplegia to gain an objective understanding of the so-called Meridian Phenomena.
The result of the study revealed that the tip of the tongue temperature, when acupuncture stimulus to Shinmon was applied, rose compared to the non-treated in the case of healthy, and the hemiplegia showed a different response against the healthy. We have earlier reported that there was a unique abdominal region skin temperature change phenomena when tsubo stimulant was applied to the upper limb. Since this was a phenomena which could not been seen with a non-tsubo stimulant, we concluded that this suggests the existence of a Meridian Phenomenon. Our current report enhances the credibility of our previous report and suggest that the function of the central nervous system acts as an underlying factor.

Effects of acupuncture on SHENSHU were examined in Gromerular Filtration Rate (GFR) by creatinine clearnce tests, urinary volume, urinary substancce (Na, K, Cl, Cre, BUN, UA) and plasma substance (the same substance as urines) on 7 normal examinees. The subjects were divided in two experimental groups (control and stimulation on SHENSHU).
Except for K level in plasma, there had not been found a significant change. However, urinary volume had a tendency to increase. Plasma K level at 90 minute in stimulation group showed a statitical increase. The results were as follows. Compared with control group, There was no significant change in GFR, urinary volume, urinary substance levels, plasma levels except for plasma K level.

Dichotomized postganglionic neurons between the pelvic organ and the lower extremity or the perianal reigon were studied using the retrograde labeling method of fluorescent dye that fast blue was injected into the left pelvic nerve and nuclear yellow injected into the left sciatic nerve, the left pudendal nerve, the left tibial nerve or the left common peroneal nerve, in each anesthetized cats. Double labeled cells were found in the overlapped segment (L7-S2 or 3) of the innervation to the pelvic nerve and to the sciatic nerve, the pudendal nerve, or the tibial nerve without the common peroneal nerve. The ratio of double labeled cells to the population of the labeled cells from the pelvic nerve was approximately 0.73% in each ganglion.
The results demonstrate that the lower lumber and the sacral paravertebral ganglion contain some dichotomized postganglionic neurons that innervate the pelvic organ and the lower extremity or the perianal region and suggest a possibility that the peripheral sympathetic ganglion can also concern the function of the integration, the divergence or the convergence of the physiological and the pathological information.
Therefore, our study are important for the consideration of the acupuncture's mechanism.

In present study, the moxa and moxibustion-products inhibited production of superoxide.
These results suggested that moxa and moxibustion-products had a scavenger like effects on superoxide.
