The effect of hot-pressing of sillver powder at temperatures up to its mel ?? ing point with small presures not exceeding 6 kg/cm2 upon the properties of the compaci thus obtained has been observed. The mechanical properties of the compact thus obtained were far better than those of the usual coldprsssing and sintering method.

The meaning of the so-called "tap test" on the pocking of powder is not plan enough. We investigated the packing state of po ?? er and knew that the' top volumes of powden we ?? ?? flueneed under the various con- ?? tions. We studied the various problems-the effect of the wethess of powder on the tap vo ?? me, the phen ?? enon of the ?? ridge formation, the ?? tion between the coagulated state and the se ?? ated state of pow-der, the adsor ?? tion of the five powder ?? ound the coasse p ?? wder, and the effects of the particle shape and the partic ?? size on the can ?? tumes ect.-
It is suitabls to make the process of the tap test of powder in liquid because the intial cha ?? ed stote is ?? ain and the packing pro-cess is not in ?? enced by the vari ?? tion of wetn ?? s. We studi ?? the tap test in ?? quid with the mechanically operating tester and in-vestigated the various ploblems above-mentioned.
