Observation of microstructure changes and the rate of densification during sintering of Cu-Pb, Cu-Bi, Fe-Cu, Fe-Ag, Co-Cu and Co-Ag in the presence of a liquid phase indicated that the rate of densification was closely related to its microstructure, and the full densification was obtained in the structure with continuous liquid phase surrounding solid particles.
From the contact angle measurements by the sessile-drop method, the complete densification was obtained in the systems with complete wettability and an appreciable solubility of the solid in the liquid.
The rate of particle growth was rapid in a large solubility of the solid in the liquid.

Al-paste de-oiled by soap-suds or trichlor ethylene can be used as raw materials for S.A.P.. Al-paste de-oiled by soap-suds contain 4-5% Al2O3, and ones de-oiled by trichlor ethylene contain about 1% Al2O3. Al2O3 content of de-oiled Al-pastes can de adjusted by soaking in water for moderate duration.
Aluminium powders made from Al-paste are compacted and sintered. Physical and mechanical properties of material increase with the rise of sintering temperature and the prolongation of sintering time. And, the longer the hot-pressing time, the better the properties of material.
By "composite powder method", aluminium powders are coated by copper. Effects of copper on the properties of S.A.P. are examined by using-Cu-coated Al-powders.
