The adverse drug reaction (ADR) reporting system is an important measure of signal detection of drugs. The ADR reporting by patients directly to the regulatory authorities has launched in some western countries. Patients reporting number is increasing, although that by medical doctors is decreasing. Patients are coming up as a presense playing a more central role in pharmaco-vigilance. While patients are in the position of getting to know information, they would be also bearing the role that they disseminate that information. Through reviewing the present state of ADR reporting by patients, I would like to discuss its significance and problems.
Even a motion of daily life like taking a medicine is very hard for disabled persons to perform by themselves. We investigated the patients with motor dysfunction caused by conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and the cerebral apoplexy hemiplegia, and propose a method and useful goods that enable these patients to take a medicine by themselves. In the case of the patients who are supported by tube feeding due to dysphagia, the conventional method of crush tablets was improved. The simple suspension method, which is a new method of tube feeding, is proposed. This method is useful and safe for the patients.
