The number of foreigners is still rising after the rapid increase since the late 1980's or the early 1990's, due to the reform of the immigration control act and the "bubble economy". In the backdrop of it, the importance of analysis of foreigners 'demographic trend, especially mortality trend is on the rise. The present study estimated the model assessing the effect of the changing of the foreign population classified by statuses of residence on their age-adjusted death rate. The present study aims to show the current trend of mortality, and clarify the effect of their settlement to Japan on mortality trend. It is revealed that foreigners'mortality trend can be explained by affect from the Japanese society and the changing of the foreign population classified by statuses of residence to some extent, which also suggested some important hypotheses about relationship between the settlement and the mortality trend. The first hypothesis is that the settlement process can rather lead to the upheaval of morality rate like the case of the segmented assimilation as a failure of adjustment to the host society. The second one is that the settlement can lead to the decline of mortality as an "assimilation effect" implies. The next challenge is to clarify the relationship between the socio-economic status and the mortality trend or migration process and the SES more in detail.
