The purpose of this article is to describe the application of “gamification”, which try to apply the game mechanism to the non-game fields, in the design of support systems on cognitive skill learning. The process for cognitive skill learning is often implicit and requires adaptive support methods based on learner’s ability, experience, and motivation. We will show that the concept of gamification has a high potential for a practical guideline in designing better learning support of the cognitive learning process.
This study analyzed the effect of pre-service teachers’ essential questions generation training program. Preliminary survey developed “questioning belief scale”, and analysis 1 examined the effect of the questioning skill program with the scale developed in preliminary survey. The result showed that the number of people successfully generated essential questions increased, and the participants questioning belief, such as “difficulty of making questions”, changed. Also the participants become to think question generation in positive manner. In analysis 2, this study revealed that only participants succeeded in generation of essential questions changed questioning belief “difficulty of making questions”. In summary, this study proved that showing “questioning model” to the pre-service teachers is effective method to promote their essential questions generation skill and changed their questioning beliefs.
