The present article deals with a new problem to compensate the undue effect of temperature on the action of a carburettor. This problem has not thoroughly been studied hitherto and nothing more than half-way solutions has ever been known. The authers found that the effect was chiefly due to changes of densities of air and fuel and an inadequate variation in discharge-coefficient of the fuel-metering orifice with temperature. The solution, obtained as a natural consequence, was the use of a metering orifice of such a discharge-characteristic, that the variation of it with the temperature of fuel was just to compensate the corresponding changes in densities of air and fuel. Such a characteristic was treated analytically at first, and the authers found by experiments a simple form of orifice satisfying the reqnired condition.

A rotating disc in high speed suffers a great intensity of stress near the center, especially when the disc has a central hole. The stress may be decreased by thickening its central portion, as in Fig.1. But it can not be decreased to 1/p though the thickness becomes pt. For numeircal examples, see Ex.1 and Ex.2.

The writer determined experimentally the twinning plane of zinc crystal as (101^^-2) plane, firstly observing the twin lamellae on the three crystallographical planes such as basal, prismatic and diagonal planes. Nextly for the purpose of testifying the twinning rule, the writer graphically calculated the directions of secondary twin lamellae which must occur in primary twin lamellae on each plane, based uppon the same role that the twin occurs along the twinning plane (101^^-2). The graphically calculated results were identical to observed values of secondary twins. Supplement : Conditions for Product of Large Single Crystal of Zinc by Strain Method. The peculiar point of condition for product of large single crystal of Zinc by strain method differing from other ductile materials as copper, iron and aluminum etc., is on the limiting strain. The strain should be as severe as possible. The straining method and annealing temperature and duration are given in this supplementary papar.

'Engineering is to be defined as the science of utilizing the forces and materials of nature for the benefit of man'. Engineering needs human effort to attain its ends, and to use such human effort, there must be a reasonable organization and some means of control which is called "industrial engineering." For the industrial engineering, theories and rules are necessarily adopted ; sociology and economics are those sciences whose studies are carefully consulted for the need of its problems. Since the European war, men of industrial concern in every country have been paid a keen attention to the organization and management of factories and offices of industrial enterprise. the object of these studies are to attain economical production, effective selling and buying system, or a rationalization of an industrial organism. As the result of their scientific studies and researches in industrial management and administration, it is believed that factory management will be treated as a science in the near future. Through this paper, I hope to discuss the present development of the field of management in Europe and America, refering to my recent researches on this problem and shall try to explain the nature of factory management that should be recognized as science.
