Lineaments extracted from a Landsat imagery are very useful for the recognition of a regional geological structure, ore deposits and so on. Lineaments can also be extracted from the other data such as a topographic map or a digital terrain model. But differences of lineament extraction performances between those methods are not yet known exactly.
In this paper, the answer for the above question clearly shown using a Landsat imagery and a reflectance map which is obtained from a digital terrain model. Furthermore, a more effective lineament extraction method which uses both the tonal informations of a Landsat data and the topographic informations of a digital terrain model is proposed.

Stereo linear array sensor which will be borne on SPOT (France) and STEREOSAT (U.S.A.) will provide high resolution data with IFOV 10-20 meters on the ground for the purpose of three dimensional measurement. These stereo data as well as multispectral data are expected to be very useful for regional planning especially in developing countries where topographic maps are not available.
For three dimensional measurement using linear array sensor data, it is necessary to develop a method of exterior orientation to determine the orientation parameters defined as the function of time, and to develop an algorithm of automated three dimensional measurement by applying auto-correlation to the stereo images. In this study, these methodologies have been developed for fore and aft looking mode, and the accuracy of the measurement has been tested with the computer simulation.
From the result of simulation by computer, contour map with 25 meters interval is possible to produce under the assumption of 10 meters IFOV and 1.0 Base/Height ratio.
