The purpose of this preliminary study is to examine whether children's understanding of the main character in a book and the ways of instructor's speech have a significant correlation. The experiment was conducted in the following way: We first divide 4-5 year old kindergarten children into three groups (Group A, B, and C). Then, we read the book to Group A without any intonation, to Group B with a scary voice, and to Group C with a mild voice. After that, we ask questions about the contents to the children personally. The result of this experiment is that there is no significant difference among the groups in terms of children's understandings of the contents. This result is not so surprising when we consider it from the linguistic perspective.

We measured bone mineral density (BMD) of female college students, and examined the factors that may influence BMD, such as physical status, nourishment intake, and exercise habit. Although it is said that BMD reaches to the maximum level in the twenties, this research showed that almost 10 % of the students were in the caution needed low BMD group. As for the relationship between BMD and physical status, body height, weight and body mass index were higher in the high BMD group than in the low BMD group. In this study the nutrient intake was not observed as a significant predictor of BMD during adolescence. These results suggest that the adolescent BMD are strongly affected by the physical activity factors including past exercise habit, rather than nutritional factors.

I summarized the career of the onagadori, a consideration of the onagadori history, its generation factors, the breeding spirit and the unique social emvironment for hybridization in Nankoku city, Kochi prefecture where people say is its birthplace. In conclusion, it is thought that the onagadori was hybridized in the back ground of the unique social environment, which the life of people was composue, breeder have breeding spirits of iggosou and breeder use the tomebakobox for breeding onagadori etc..

A pathohistological study on Paragonimus westermani from Sri Lanka was performed on infected cats after the autopsy. Sclerosis was observed in the cats' lungs. Furthermore, the grey worm cysts were recognized on the surface of the lungs of the infected cats. Normally, a pair of adult worms of P. westermani parasitize in each of the lung cysts, and the walls of the cysts were covered with squamous cell metaplasia of bronchus epithelial cells.A remarkable infiltration by various inflammatory cells such as histiocytes, lymphocytes and plasma cells had occurred in the cysts of the host lung, leading to the formation of granulomas. The eggs were scattered around the inflammatory cells, which were surrounded with a small number of eosinophils. This study supports their findings of Yokogawa and Blair et al. described in the reports on human paragonimiasis. The present study is an animal model of human paragonimiasis to elucidate the disease mechanism.

The purpose of this paper is to examine whether the Minimal English Test (MET) can provide enough information for the junior college students' English proficiency, and whether MET is a useful tool for the English teaching in junior colleges. The students took a MET every week in an English class. Then, at the final class, they took the same test (MET 1') as they first took the test (MET 1) , and we compared the result of MET 1' with that of MET 1. As a result, there is a statistically significant difference between MET 1' and MET 1. It also illustrates that the students who did not take a test every week increased the score lower than the students who took a test every day, and that the students with a higher score increased the score higher than the students with a lower score.

In this research, I examined the usage of '-ga' in Kochi dialect, compared with the usage of '-ga' in Toyama dialect. In Kochi dialect, the pronominal '-ga' corresponds to '-no' in standard Japanese. However, '-ga' differs from '-no' in that it can appear on the right side of the genitive marker '-no.' This phenomenon is also observed in Toyama dialect, as noted by Murasugi (1991, 2000). She observes that in this dialect, the pronominal '-ga' cannot express the meaning of people or abstract nouns, such as sensei 'teacher' or izon 'dependency.' Therefore, I conducted an experiment, under the assumption that the usage of '-ga' in Kochi dialect is the same as in Toyama dialect, in that '-ga' in Kochi dialect cannot mean people or abstract nouns. As a result, it turned out that the assumption is borne out.
