A male child case with left uni. C. L. A. P. combined with a conical surplus soft tissue (abridged as C. S. S. T.) on the middle portion of the lower lip was reported 2 days after the birth and the following treatments. The C. S. S. T. was very specified with fresh red colour and elastic soft like as the red portion of the normal lip and characteristic with a round base of the diameter 10mm and height 12mm. At birth, the tip of the C. S. S. T., existed on the lower red lip, was connected to the upper gum on the cleft alveolus, which was cut by the first doctor. Four months after the birth, the C. S. S. T. was cut-off at its base and the lower lip plasty was done, following the upper cheiloplasty by Croninmethod.
The histological finding of the excised C. S. S. T. was almost the same with normal red lip. After that, because of hyperplastic growth of the lower lip, surgical reduction was performed three times during 5 years. Histologically, the excised tissue shown normal epithelium and muscle mixed with scar tissue and didn't suggest any tumorlike tissues. At the age of 1 year and 9 months, palatoplasty was done. The general results have now, at 14 years old, morphologically and functionally no problem.
The genesis for formation of C. S. S. T. is important and interesting, therefore it has been discussed from various view points, but not yet enough clarified, because of its rarity. From the reported case it would be reasoned, as if the missed tissue of the left upper lip were transplanted on the border of lower red lip at the early stage of pregnancy .
Further research would be demanded and at the same time should be entrusted to the next researchers.
