It was confirmed that the simultaneous discharges taking place in two thin walled Geiger-Muller counters placed side by side near the target containing H bombarded with H are nut due to stray gammarays excited by neutron in the different parts of the apparatus. It was also confirmed that the gammarays are not emitted in the r reaetion of H with H. As the result of absorption measurement we are foreed to the conclusion that the eleetrons are emitted faun the substances (so far, C. Al, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn, Ag. Ag. Cd. Pt, and Pb, are investigated) travensed by the neutrons. The energy of the electrons is indendent of the substances from which they are emitted, being about I mv. The cross section of the proeess seems to in-crease with the atomic number, being of the order of 10

2 for Pb. It is shown that there is no reasonable explanation of the observed effect in terms of nuclear process hitherto known. Some new types of interaction of the neutrons with the Mums are suggested
