In order to assess the influence of multiple reflections between barriers and railway car bodies on noise propagation, a numerical study using a 2D-FDTD method is performed with changing the barrier height, the lane-to-barrier distance, and the bending angle at the upper part of the barrier. Subsequently, a 1/25 scale model experiment is carried out, which confirms a corresponding tendency between numerical and measured results. Furthermore, considering the discrepancy between the numerically calculated attenuation values and the diffraction attenuation values without multiple reflections by Maekawa’s chart, a chart of correction values is presented to incorporate the effects of multiple reflections.
