The purpose of this research is analyzing basic function and its involvement on development project of Historic Gateway Neighborhood Corporation in Cleveland as an local development corporation, and considering how it encourages a project. As a result, 5 basic functions are become clear that design planning, design review, adopting a tax abatement program, making a district plan and voluntarily works. And 3 points became clear as a technique; 1) Assist a fund-raising by combining use of tax abatement and rehabilitating a historical building. 2) Make a preliminary design in place of the property owners and developers. 3) Work for the solution of a district specific problem by making continuous cooperation with the same developer.

We developed a computer program to evaluate the seismic probable maximum loss (PML) of a building. For the estimation of the PML, the authors surveyed and discussed the related academic fields of seismology, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering and so on. Then the up-to-date models associated with the activities of the seismic sources around Japan, ground motions, site effects and loss of buildings were selected, and installed in the program. By using this program, an engineer can provide the client with the reliable value of the PML along with the utilized models and parameters, from the neutral and fair standpoint.

The authors made the business model with applying workflow analysis to the sash design, and verified the effectiveness of workflow analysis in the real business processes. The business model is composed of IDEFO graphical flow charts and standard/technical documents written in XML. The charts and the documents are related to each other; in addition, actual trouble cases are also bound to the charts. The effectiveness of the workflow analysis for detailed design was illustrated by the model.

The study is aimed at better planning the cycle process that considers production characteristics in high-rise RC building construction and at establishing a better method by a simulation system using computer-aided tools. A special emphasis of this study is placed on examining the effect for shortening the cycle term of site works and the influence from overtime work on the productivity where situation of such real projects is taken into consideration. Furthermore, we examine choices of optimal working patterns even considering some additional labor cost generated by overtime work.

In this study, I have researched and developed a 3-Dimentional cityscape examination system in order to help the administration and the inhabitants examine and reach a consensus on a certain cityscape policy. By utilizing a globaly standardized 3-D technology called the VRML in the sytem, an interactive cityscape examination using the Internet has been made possible. In addition, I have designed the system so that, admistrative map data can be utilized to efficiently produce a high-precision 3-D cityscape data. After actually applying the system in a real city planning process, I was able to concretely grasp the influence a building height regulation has on a cityscape.

In architecture space, not only each space but the course which connects them has an important meaning. Way finding is the action which chooses this course. It is very important to make comfortable space to investigate human's way finding action in architecture. In these researches, many computer simulation systems which can set up the space according to the study purpose freely are used. However, since many systems are specializing in specific research, they are not for general purpose. In this research, the virtual reality technology based on path selection system WASS (Way finding Active Simulation System) with the wide flexibility was developed.

In addition to the process followed during the high rise residential building projects formerly, this time modules and rough models are introduced during the preliminary planning and preliminary design stages respectively, the precast and conventional RC parts are focused on, and construction detailed modeling is performed using standardized modeling process and computer programs introduced within the company. As a result cost control became possible starting from the early stages of the design.

This paper reports one of the functions of mixed reality technology that produces highly vivid VR contents for model home exhibition sites. We employed Augmented Virtuality technology among other mixed reality technologies. That is because it aims at upgrading the texture by adding real images to virtual space. To be more precise, it was intended to increase sense of reality by affixing actual photographs of existing buildings to VR contents. In this report the outline of the techniques to amalgamate actual photographing techniques, images and VR space is described, and also indoor contents aiming at reproducing complex light environments is introduced.

As an activity of the Special Research Committee on Ubiquitous Computing/Architecture in the Network Era, an interview survey about the influence to buildings by information related technologies was conducted. The interviewees of the survey were people who have an experience prolonged in the business field. The laddering technique was applied in the survey. Finally, two network diagrams, about buildings and the process of design and construction, were created. Location, use and functions of spaces, communication environment, flexibility, comfortableness and energy saving, security, were extracted as influences on buildings. Optimal design solution, speed of design process, saving workers of construction, reduction of construction cost, were extracted as influences on the process of design and construction.
