Here is introduced an example of systems biology study regarding intracellular signal kinetics that determine cell fate. For example, transient and sustained mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) induce proliferation and differentiation of MCF-7 breast cancer cells, respectively. In an effort to delineate the dynamics-oriented cell determination mechanism, we investigate time-course early transcription and intracellular signaling using both experimental and kinetic modeling approaches. One of our studies suggested that AND-gate and layered feedback in the signaling and early transcription network results in a quantitative to qualitative information change in the cell determination process,
