    European Union has developed the most advanced political system on Food Safety and has been leading global discussion on this issue. Until now, relatively restricted sector of EU Food safety policy, which corresponds to Japanese Food Hygiene Law had been introduced to Japan.
    However, EU food safety policy has more comprehensive structure that covers all political issues which relate to human, animal and plant health and is still under the development for further streamlining.
    The objective of this article is to capture the whole picture of European Union's food safety policy by introducing its development history, the structure of political administrative organization relating to EU food safety policy, and mail regulation which compose of EU food safety policy. Also, by making comparison of EU and Japanese Food safety study, the author aims to provide information for future Japanese policy.
