Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease is a typical disease of prion disease characterized by neurological dysfunction such as spongy degeneration of the brain, severe dementia, myoclonus of muscle spasm, and speech disorder. For dental treatment of prion disease patients, meticulous attention should be paid to infection prevention measures in open blood treatment including scaling. We report two cases of tooth extraction in Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease patients needed infection control and oral management.

Amyloidosis is a disease of unknown cause, in which amyloid proteins are deposited in various body organs and tissues, causing dysfunction. This time, we experienced a case of amyloidosis in the labial mucosa associated with multiple myeloma. The case involved a 50-year-old man who had nodules in his upper and lower lips at his initial visit and tissue biopsy confirmed amyloid deposits. Despite it having been 9 years since he made his first visit, the lesions on his lips have not changed. In Japan, there have been many cases of oral amyloidosis occurs in the tongue, while it rarely occurs in the lips.

Microscopic polyangiitis (MPA) is a systemic vasculitis that is positive for anti-neutrophil cystoplasmic antibody (ANCA). We report two cases of multiple oral ulcers associated with MPA. In case 1, after being diagnosed with MPA based on Myeloperoxidase (MPO)-ANCA positive and sural nerve biopsy findings, multiple ulcers appeared in the oral cavity. In case 2, the patient showed systemic edema, and multiple ulcers were found in the oral mucosa during close examination at the internal medicine. The patient was diagnosed as MPA because MPO-ANCA was positive. The ulcer disappeared after chemotherapy. This disease should also be considered when multiple ulcers in the oral cavity are observed.
