The subfamily Meligethinae of Taiwan is taxonomically revised. Consequently, the following eight species are recognized: Pria tokarensis NAKANE; Meligethinus plagiatus (GROUVELLE); Meligethes torquatus JELINEK; M. flavicollis REITTER; M. pectoralis REBMANN; M. sadanarii sp. nov.; M. shirozui HISAMATSU; and M. zakharenkoi KIREJTSHUK. P. tokarensis is newly recorded, and M. shirakii HISAMATSU is excluded from the Taiwanese fauna. Habitus, antennae, protibiae, male and female genitalia, and internal sac sclerites of male genitalia of all species are illustrated. Keys to genera and species are presented. Characteristics of the Taiwanese Meligethes fauna are discussed.

Two new species of the genus Platychora ERICHSON from the Oriental region are described and compared with the related species: Platychora opaca sp. nov. (Thailand, Laos) and P. hisamatsui sp. nov.(Laos). Male of Platychora glabra JELINEK is described and additional distributional data on this species from Malaysia are published.

The paper presents an overview of species of the genus Mystrops MURRAY, 1864 collected on male inflorescence of the palm Ceroxylon quindiuense (KARST.) H. WENDL. (Arecaceae) in the Andes of Peru. They are Mystrops delgadoi sp. nov., M. hisamatsui sp. nov., M. neli sp. nov., M pulchra sp. nov. and M. rotundula SHARP, 1889. Besides, M. gigas sp. nov., which is closely related to M. hisamatsui sp. nov. and M. neli sp. nov. and probably also associated with the same host plant, is also described from Ecuador.

A new genus Sadanaria belonging to the tribe Cnodalonini is proposed. Two new species of the new genus and a new species of the genus Apterotheca are described: Sadanaria sakaii sp. nov., S. satoi sp. nov., and Apterotheca hisamatsui sp. nov. Both genera are recorded from the Philippines for the first time. Apterotheca is a genus which has been deemed to be endemic to Australian region.

Two new species of the group of Lathrobium pollens are described under the names L. hisamatsui and L. tokushimanum. The former was obtained on Mt. Ishizuchi-san of Ehime Prefecture and the latter on two mountains, Mt. Shibakoya-yama and Mt. Takamaru-yama, of Tokushima Prefecture, both in Shikoku, West Japan.

Weevils of the genus Omobaris MARSHALL are recorded from Japan and Taiwan for the first time with descriptions of three new species: 0. chloranthae sp. nov., 0. parvula sp. nov. and 0. hisamatsui sp. nov. A key to the known species is provided. Host association with Chloranthus (Chloranthaceae) of a paleoherb, one of the basal lineages of angiosperms is suggested in addition to the known association with orchids.

Three new species of the Trichotichnus leptopus group are described from Kyoto, Gifu, and Nagano, Japan as following: T. (Trichotichnus) hisamatsui from Hachou in Kyoto, T. The genus Heterlimnius is revised. Seven species are recognized and four of them are newly described: H. ennearthrus sp. nov., H. hisamatsui sp. nov., H. jaechi sp. nov., and H. shepardi sp. nov. Optioservus hasegawai and 0. ater are transferred to Heterlimnius. H. koebelei is synonymized under H. corpulentus. Both 0. kubotai kubotai and 0. k. saghaliensis are synonymized under H. hasegawai. 0. hayashii is synonymized under H. ater. A key is provided for all species of Heterlimnius. Descriptions are provided for the larvae of H. ater, H. corpulentus and H. hasegawai.

A new blind trechine beetle is described from the upper hypogean zone in the northwestern part of Shikoku, Southwest Japan. At first sight, it looks like a member of the genus Ishikawatrechus, but is radically different from it in some essential points, and is considered to form a new genus of its own. The new name Iyotrechus hisamatsui S. UENO et NAITO is given to it in dedication to the late Dr. Sadanari HISAMATSU.

Krenopelopia joganflava SASA and OKAZAWA, 1991, was considered synonymous with Rheopelopia ornata (MEIGEN, 1838) by KOBAYASHI and ENDO (2008). Although belonging to the genus Rheopelopia, the species is distinct from R. ornata in the tarsal claws without pulvilli. A synonymic note on R. joganflava is given herein.

The author has studied a number of Xantholinini (Coleoptera, Staphylinidae) which are preserved in the National Museum of Nature and Science, Tokyo, collected in Southwest China (Yunnan, Gaoligongshan Mountains), and describes the following species: Mahavana watanabei sp. nov., remotely related to the known Indochinese species of the genus; Nepalinus montanus sp. nov. and Nepalinus yunnanus sp. nov., barely similar to the species known from India and Nepal; Indomorphus yunnanus sp. nov., similar to I. parcus (EPPELSHEIM) from India, Nepal, Bhutan and Yunnan; Atopolinus watanabei sp. nov., closely related to A. kosianus BORDONI from Nepal, and Atopolinus rubescens sp. nov., related to A. ovaliceps (SCHEERPELTZ) from Myanmar, Thailand, South China, Bhutan, and Malaysia, and to A. gaoligong BORDONI from N. Yunnan.

We found two species of Spalangia, S. gemina and S. nigroaenea, in pupal parasitoids of the domestic fly, Musca domestica, collected in Kochi Prefecture, Japan. In order to identify these species we conducted molecular phylogenetic (sequencing of the 28S ribosomal DNA region) and morphological analyses (using a scanning electron microscope). These two species are recorded from Japan for the first time.

An armored scale, Lindingaspis ferrisi McKenzie, 1950, is recorded for the first time from Okinawa Island, Japan, and the adult female is briefly described with illustrations of the pygidium. This species resembles L. rossi, L. keniyae and L. mackenziei, but differs from them in having 2-4 small-sized dorsal macroducts near the base of the pygidium.
