    Increasee of material removal rate in high speed EDM is obtained by addition of the addition agent to the water-base working fluid which contains electric-conductive powder.
    The addition agent used in the experiment is the mixture of surface achieve agent and mineral oil Which is also effective for rust prevention.
    It is found that the removal rate increases with increase of the content of the addition agent aproaching a constant with the content of over 7% of the agent.
    The maximum removal rate obtainei in the experiments is about 40g/min with the mean electric current 200A which is about 20% bigger than that with the conventional water-base working fluid.
    Measurement of the electric capacity by using the pulse technique shows formation of the electric double layer on the surface of the electrodes with the addition agent. The increase of the removal rate with the addition agent could be attributed to less adhesivity of erosion products on the work surface due to formation of the adsorption layer.

    This paper deals with the mechanism of the continuous arc, occurring in micro-energy EDM by RC circuit. A statistic analysis is made about the critical condition of arc occurrence. Then, the result and some mathematical inquiry give a new theory about the condition.
    The experimental result shows that the inductance of discharge circuit loop has great influence on arc occurrence. The phenomenon is difficult to be applied by the ion-destruction theory. While, a calculation of discharge current with a new assumption of the gap voltage gives close agreement with the real wave form. Moreover, it represents the stage that the type of the current changes from a pulse to a continuous arc.
    These results shows that the change occurs mainly in order to the circuit condition. A calculation based on this decision was achieved, and clearly agreed with the real relation between the critical value of charging resistance and the inductance of discharge loop for various values of discharge capacity. This result makes it possible to design a RC circuit, avoiding the undesirable continuous arc.

    This paper deals with the fundamental study on the plastic deformation of the metal plate by using the water hammering of high-speed water jet. This water jet was spouted out from an orifice of a vessel in which an impulsive high current discharge was generated.
    The following conclusions are obtained;
    (1) The water jet consists of three parts in which the main part is central water jet which has uniform motion with the maximum velocity about 260m/s. The spouted length of the jet decreased as the diameter of the orifice became larger and the length of the parallel part was longer.
    (2) The depth of the plastic deformation by the high-speed water jet was changed according to the nozzle diameter. It became clear that there was most suitable nozzle diameter on the maximum deformation.
    Moreover, there was adequate parallel part as the depth of deformation became maximum. The parallel part was attached to the end of the conical vessel.
