Progress of information technology (IT) and globalization of economic environment drive a transiton to the knowledge-based society where utilization of information and knowledge greatly affects enterprise's competitive edge. With this trend, the role of IT has expanded to realize the corporate strategy and renovate business model, then expectations to IT firms have largely changed. In order to adapt to such changes in management environment, MOT (Management of Technology) concept is required. MOT is to manage total business with understanding of both corporate management viewpoint and substance of technology. Knowledge-based corporate management is important to IT firms as technological knowledge is a core asset for IT firms. Also competitive situation in a market has changed to competition among corporategroups, so IT is necessary to enhance intellectual productivity, competitive edge, and corporate value by building the environment that facilitates knowledge creation and transfer from the viewpoint of group company management. Under such situation, A Group is preceding with various initiatives for utilization of technological knowledge from both technology and management aspects such as group reorganization by splitting group by business segment and centralizing each expertise, establishment of knowledge center and cross-organizational technology committee, and reconstruction of knowledge and human resource portfolio.
