Currently, our company has concluded a partnership agreement with Shiwa Town, Iwate Prefecture, and is promoting the “creation of a model for regional revitalization using Web3 technology.

T The concept of “Furusato DAO” started from my little figment of imagination. One of the reasons why Web3 has not penetrated Japan is the taxation system. In Japan, where capital gains are taxed, companies that are issuers of coins are subject to many harmful taxes, and many companies conduct their Web3 business in cities such as Singapore and Dubai.

This is the reason why most of the top runners in the Web3 business are based overseas.

After much deliberation, the imagination that I have derived is the idea that local governments should have crypto assets.Local governments are in a position to collect taxes, and since they are not taxed, they are well suited for crypto assets.

If the coins issued at no cost could be sold when they gained value, they could become a self-sustaining source of revenue, this idea was the beginning of “Furusato DAO”.

There are many cases in which something starts out as a misunderstanding or an imagination. We hope that this will be a guidepost for many people as they consider reginal revitalization utilizing Web3.

It was around the spring of 2021 that our company started thinking about using Web3 technology for regional revitalization.

Now, many words related to Web3, such as NFT, are being dealt with in the news. Many of Japan’s Web3 first runners are doing business in Singapore, Dubai, Portugal, the Netherlands, etc., where crypto assets are less taxed, to avoid taxation issues.

However, our company believes that Web3 technology can be used for regional revitalization, and is aiming to issue FTs for local governments in Japan. We believe that Web3’s technology should be used for socially meaningful businesses rather than speculative businesses. In considering how to utilize Web3 for regional revitalization, it is necessary to understand the meaning of technologies and terms such as blockchain, smart contract, and DAO.

In this commentary, we refer to the contents of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry’s “Web 3.0 business environment development concept - From the maturity of the token economy in the future to the possibility of contributing to Society 5.0 -”.

I will explain the techniques and terminology while adding my perspective on regional revitalization, so I hope it will be useful for you as an introductory book for Web3.

In today’s world, where people seek the satisfaction of life-size self-actualization needs, the aesthetic value creation has become so important for service innovation, along with economic and social value. In this article, based on the macro models of service value creation and service systems that have already been explained in our first article, we investigate the role of art in a broad sense, in each level of individual aesthetic sense, organizational activity/business, and regional revitalization/sustainability. This study clarifies the role of art driving creativity-oriented management as the intermediaries in resource integration processes involving people, infrastructure, and information.

Chapter 5 of “Digital Education for Executives in Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises” series is “Building a System by Using the Cloud.”It summarizes the operations and challenges in using the cloud for storage, which is a key component for system building.

During the coronavirus pandemic, remote work rapidly advanced in Japan. There are a number of issues that need to be addressed such as how to manage and maintain the data and how to keep sufficient security.

For SMEs to promote DX, they may face a resource issue to manage and maintain new data. Considering operation and maintenance costs, there is an advantage to utilize the cloud rather than building an in-house system. In this article, we outlined cloud service functions from major providers and things to note when building platforms using cloud storage services.
