This paper considers "writing" in Japanese language learning.
A new study course focuses on the system of learning through elementary and junior high schools as well as high schools. It requires the acquisition of writing skills by the setting the problem, coverage of the subject, sentence structure, text prediction, elaboration of the text and interaction. These activities, especially writing the letter, provide the foundation of writing abilities.
We have to ensure that there is sufficient time for writing education and that we provide students with the opportunity to write the text content on the various topics.

This paper considers the way to improve students′ motivation in presentation classes in College of Technology. This consideration is written on a basis of my practices, which I carried out in classes of "Japanese" to 3rd graders from 2008 to 2010. In order to know students′ opinions and thoughts in presentation class, I analyzed the students′ questionnaire. Through the analysis, three effective ways to improve students′ motives were found. These are (1)self-expression through that he or she is interested in, (2) good use of PowerPoint, and (3) mutual evaluations between students. If students play active roles in a class, students should be able to improve Communication-Skills steadily and pleasantly.

For approximately fifty years since the war, Hiroshima has practiced "peace education backed by science education", emphasizing that scientific technology could destroy peoples′ happiness if misused. The circumstances, however, have changed greatly over the last decade. The idea that Japan could stand up to Western countries was thanks to the fact that scientific technology had become widespread. This paper analyzes the circumstances in Hiroshima to determine the effectiveness of "peace education backed by scientific endeavors".

The purpose of this study was to assess daily physical activity and physical fitness, and to examine the relationship of both in OYAMA National College of technology students. Subjects were 173 (age;17.1土 1.1, BMI;21.0士3.0). All subjects wore activity monitor (Lifecorder-GS, KENZ, Japan; LC) over a seven-day period, in order to determine the Walk-steps, Exercise[Ex], daily physical activity and time engaged in each of the 3 level physical activity (LC1-3, LC4-6, LC7-9). The index of physical fitness level was evaluated by a new physical fitness tests. As a result, Walking steps were 5345土2120 for Inactive and 7289土3009 for Active group students. Physical activity time in intensity of LC4-7 was 16士11 for Inactive and 20士8 for Active on Weekdays, and 8土8 for Inactive and 19土14 for Active on Weekends. Finally, Exercise (Ex) in both groups was lower than guideline. In subjects, a total point of physical fitness tests was lower than national mean value. These results suggest implicate that there should be a need to increase the physical activity time to improve physical fitness level.

This paper reports an experimental investigation of the airlift pump used in the plant factory. We made a small-sized airlift pump which would operate in the nutriculture device for personal use. In the nutriculture, airlift pump has two important functions which are circulation and aeration of nutrient medium. We focused on the former function and quantity of water delivered was measured in order to understand the effects of riser tube dimensions on the pump performance. The results were compared with analytical calculation which was based on the momentum equation. As a result, it was found that the pump performance was seriously affected by riser tube dimensions and water flow rate of the pump changed in the same direction as analytical suggestion.

This study deals with the results of study on the fundamental development of electric assist attachment for bicycles. Electric assist bicycles does not have only these advantages (for example, light pedaling, good for health care, and not to need driver license), but it is also good for ecology, because it does not use fuels. Hence it is getting more and more popular with its market increasing. However the market price of electric assist bicycle is still higher than 60,000 yen. In this study, I propose the technique to construct an electric assist bicycle by using an ordinaly bicycle and the electric assist attachment. Using this technique, I attempt to reduce production costs and recycle the resource. So then I considered front wheel exchange method for attaching this attachment to ordinaly bicycle. First of all, I have designed and made the wheel of this attachment. Second, I have started to make an IPM motor, but I couldn't finish this motor. And the last, I verified possibility of adding Assist function through the easy experiment using the wheel.

Automatic recognition of adults and minor are demand for vending machines for tobacco and alcohol. The proposed method was discussed to try the basis trial for automatic recognition of adult and minor to be using the water content in skin decreases with age. In the method, near-infrared spectral characteristics of the cheek using it tends to be absorbed into water (1100∼2200nm wavelength) was measured by a spectrometer. As a result, the rate of increase in absorbance in a wavelength of about 1900nm (slopes) revealed that there is a big difference between a minor and adult. This method was used to identify adult men and women using this difference. In that case, in order to strengthen of the method, the "adult" and "minors" in addition to two categories of "unidentifiable", "non person" by adding the two categories, identified as four categories got for the recognition obtain a recognition rate of 81.8%.

This paper proposes a new AC-DC converter with Power Factor Correction (PFC) circuit. It requires few components (five switches, one inductor and one capacitor) to convert AC to DC directly. In this low-output-voltage H-bridge AC-DC converter, inductor current always flows in the same direction. We investigated two types of PFC circuits; boundary conduction mode (BCM) and continuous conduction mode (CCM). The new PFC circuit for BCM does not use an analog multiplier. We describe circuit topologies, operation principles and simulation results.

Recently, various methods for underground exploration are developed. If the method of analyzing the thermography obtained with an infrared camera also in it is used, wide range exploration may be able to be performed in remoteness and non-contact for a short time. Since the temperature distribution of the ground surface will become uneven if a buried object is under the ground, it is thought that the position and form of it is estimated with analyzing the thermography. In this paper, after explaining the principle to estimating the position and top form of the buried object, the possibility and the features of the method is clarified through consideration of the numeric simulation and the fundamental experimental result.

In the process of normal electro-osmotic dewatering of a semi-solid sludge put between two plate-type electrodes placed above and below in vertical direction of the sludge bed, the water content in part of the bed near the upper side electrode opposite to lower drainage surface is considerably reduced, resulting in electrically poor contact between the upper electrode and the bed being dewatered, and then in excessive increase of electrical contact resistance between them. This obviously obstructs the efficiency of electro-osmotic dewatering throughout the bed, and consequently the continuation of the dewatering process becomes difficult. From the viewpoint of lowering the influence of increasing electrical contact resistance, the use of ringed-type upper electrode, in which such electrodes arranged vertically at regular intervals are attached at the sidewall of sludge bed put into a cylindrical vessel, was experimentally atempted by using multi-stage ringed-electrodes, and compared with normal plate-type upper electrode.

Amylases, lipases, cellulases, and proteinases (peptidases) have been used for the enzymes added in detergents. Activity of added enzymes in detergents is utilizable to lead new themes of extension lectures. This research describes proteinases added in detergents. Proteinases hydrolyze proteins to small proteins, peptides, or amino acids. The methods for detection of these compounds are important for success of experimental visualization of enzymatic reactions in the mixture of proteins by the proteases included in the detergents. The survey study suggests that the method using a kind of urine test paper impregnated with tetrabromophenol blue is superior to other methods of detection.
