The purpose of this paper is to examine the factors influencing the implementation of diversity management in Japanese corporations. The author examined four types of diversity: the effective employment of international staff, promotion of the active participation of women, LGBT countermeasures, and the employment of disabled individuals.
The sample companies are 1,137 listed Japanese corporations in FY 2015. The author employed logit analysis. The results show that there is a significant and positive association between diversity of a company and its ttributes, though the affected attributes differ among the four diversity types. For example, there is a significant and positive association between the effective employment of international staff and four variables (percentage of international sales, percentage of foreign ownership, percentage of outside directors and size of corporations). On the other hand, there is a significant and positive association between the employment of disabled individuals and only one variable (size of corporations).
