Durch mikroskopische Untersuchung der "Sump" -Praparate (Reliefabdrucke mit Zelluloidplatten) von Desmostylusmolaren konnte der Venfasser feststellen, daB der histologische Aufbau der Zahne dieses Tieres bis auf das kleinste Destail mit dem der Menschenzahne identisch ist., Daraus konnte man also annehmen, daB Desmostylus systematisch einem Mitglied der phylogenetisch neueren Saugetiere (Ungulata) angehort., Nebenbei wurden einige Bemerkungen auf versehentlich Fehler VANDERHOOFS in seiner neuesten Veroffentlichung hervor gebracht., (Der Inhalt der vorliegenden Arbeit wird spater in einer europaischen Sprache wieder-gegeben., )

A general account on the stratigraphy of the Ooigawa formation and its relations in east part of Totomi (Sizuoka-ken) is given with special notes of the limestones which take place between the Megami sandstone and mudstone cf the lower division., Some of the limestones, for example that of Nita, have in them Lepidocuclina nipponica HANZAWA and Miogypsina kotoi HANZAWA and a number of other less important foraminifera., With this discovery it is possible to give a statement that the Misaka formation is equal to the Ooigawa in geological age., A new stage name "Ooigawa" is put forward for the Lower Miocene of Japan which is older than the stage with Lepidocyclina japonica.,
