Calyptogena, DALL, 1891., Type species: C., pacifica DALL, 1891., The superfi-cial feature of Calyptogena reminds me of some species of the Veneridae, howeve-r, considering form the standpoints of hinge teeth and pallial line, the presen-t genus is dealt with Carditidae., This geuus is one of the Nothern Pacific elem-ents., C., pacifica DALL and C., elongata DALL are known from the rather deep wate-r of the Western Coast of Alaska and California, and the fossil species of the former is also known from the Pliocene formation of Los Angels., In the Japanese Islands the present genus has never been known as the living species, however, t-wo species of Calyptogena are reported as the fossil ones., One is C., pacifica DALL which is noted by Y., OTUKA from the Wakimoto Bed of Oga Peninsula, Akita Pr-efecture; another one is C., nipponica OINOMIKADO and KANEHARA from the Usigakub-i Bed (Pliocene) and Kubiki Bed (Mio., -Pliocene) of the Higasiyama Oil-field, Ni-igata Prefecture., In this article the writer reported the occurrence of a great number of Calyptogena pacifica DALL from the Morai Bed (Mio., -Pliocene) of the I-sikari Oil-field, Hokkaido., Urio moraiensis SUZUKI perhaps will belong to the p-resent one.,
