I have lately been abroad in order to investigate the manufacturing industry of electrical porcelain in America, France, and Germany. This is the summary of my lecture at the Tokai Branch of J. I. E. E., especially illustrating the manufacture of so-called suspension insulators in the above said countries in comparison with that in our country.

The performance characteristics of a symmetrical thermopile are analitically studied, ane experimental results are compared with Thermo-elements of Rubens type and Moll type are treated as well. The following points are to be noticed:
    (1) By the formula reduced, sensibility and time-constant can be predetermined from dimension and material constants.
    (2) Preferable dimension and selection of materials can be seen from the formula, for different purposes.
    (3) From calculated results and experiments, it is clearly shown that the thermopile can be satisfactorily used as a practical instrument for thermo radiometric use.

Some peculiar precautio-s, which should be paid for designing and manufacturing successful marine electrical apparatus, are generally mentioned in accordance with a real condition of a ship.
Gyro Compass, Gyro stabiliser and fathometer which are only used on board a ship and are not familiar to the general public, are popularly explained in order to give a general idea about their mode of utilisation and action.

The author describes the polarity effect of a special point electrode in this paper. Brush discharge is formed around the point electrode when it is positively charged and pointed corona when it is charged negatively. Then, voltage-current curves are plotted by ascending and descending voltages and it is found that the current of ascending voltage is smaller than that of descending. It seems that these phenomena are due to residual surface and pace charge.
In the next place, voltage-current curves are measured by using needle electrode and plate one, on which some kind of plate insulator is placed. In this case, the current of ascending voltage is greater than that of descending, and difference of these currents is the greater, the more residual surface charge on the insulator. Especially in the case of ebonite, plate, the stored surface charge has an extraordinary effect. Its polarity and that of needle electrode are equal, so that if amount of the surface charge reaches certain
