Pulsed tissue Doppler has been used to assess longitudinal systolic and diastolic myocardial functions. In the present study, relationships between left ventricular geometric patterns and cardiac functions were examined using tissue Doppler among 228 hypertensive patients with preserved ejection fraction (≥50%). Regarding left ventricular geometric pattern, four groups classified based on the left ventricular mass index and relative wall thickness were used. Longitudinal myocardial velocities differed depending on left ventricular geometric patterns and detecting larval systolic dysfunction which cannot be recognized with ejection fraction.
Hybrid operation of endovascular and open surgery for peripheral arterial disease is getting widespread. We reviewed simultaneous hybrid operation for multilevel lower extremity arterial disease in our institution performed from April 2008 to March 2013. The type of surgical reconstruction including thromboendarterectomy and/or bypass surgery was decided according to comorbidities and general conditions as well as severity of lower extremity ischemia. The results showed that the hybrid operation was safe and effective. The choice of procedure is important to improve results of multilevel arterial reconstruction.
