Therapeutic effects of thoracic endovascular aortic repair; TEVAR, for the patients with chronic type B aortic dissection are quite different depending on the timing of the intervention from the onset. Outcomes and fates of false lumen in TEVAR for chronic type B aortic dissection are discussed separately for 53 cases with preemptive TEVAR for patients with false lumen that has not yet dilated and 116 cases with TEVAR for patients with dilated false lumen.
Aortic surgery in Japan has undergone a major transition, As its long-term outcomes became clear, the need for life long surveillance and additional treatments for endoleaks, migration and stent graft infection become apparent. This article reviews the current status and future prospects of stent grafting for aortic aneurysms.
The ultrasonic examination items of the abdominal artery and the lower extremity peripheral artery are those in which 1) evaluation of abdominal aortic aneurysm, 2) evaluation of renal artery stenosis, and 3) evaluation of arteriosclerosis obliterans are routinely conducted. In addition, it is useful as 1) an examination that is directly linked to treatment, 2) an emergency examination such as an aortic aneurysm rupture or an acute artery occlusion, and 3) observation points and correspondences when rare diseases are encountered. In this report, the abdominal aorta and the renal artery, and the lower limb artery, the points of routine examination and the more useful examination will be described.
