In conjunction with increasing demands on the reliable information about the thermophysical properties of technically important fluids, the importance of the researches in the related fields has become more significant. In the present survey, some of the significance as well as the scope of the thermophysical properties research are described specifically with respect to the isobaric heat capacity of fluids.
Several typical flow calorimeters recently reported are introduced and surveyed, since the flow calorimetry is evaluated as the best method to determine the isobaric heat capacity of gases experimentally. Among them, a compact flow calorimeter designed and operated by the present authors is also included and explained. Not only the configuration of the calorimeter but also the available information about the respective experimental apparatuses are presented.
