Under The Basic Act on Dementia to Promote an Inclusive Society, and The National Framework for Promotion of Dementia Policies, libraries are expected to disseminate correct knowledge and understanding of dementia. Therefore, this study aimed to clarify 1) the relationship between knowledge about dementia and attitudes towards dementia, and 2) the significance of disseminating information on dementia in libraries. The survey was conducted in October 2023 through a research company and valid responses were obtained from 206 respondents.
The results confirmed that there is a certain association between having more knowledge about dementia and having an inclusive attitude towards dementia. The results also indicated that the dissemination of information on dementia in libraries was perceived as an opportunity to gain correct knowledge about dementia and to think about dementia. It was also found that the ease of information seeking, and low psychological barriers were valued as a result of being in a library.
