Re-examination of epiphytic vegetation in Tokyo shows recovery from the 1960's damage by air pollution. Today's vegetation of epiphytic bryophytes and lichens is richer than those of the same trees in around 1970. Air pollution, especially caused by sulphur dioxide, has been reduced to about 20% of the maximum level of 1967.
