A mechanism of hydrocracking polyaromatics compounds in FCC process was investigated. It is easier to hydrocrack polyaromatics with three-membered ring than those with two-membered ring by use of hydrogen from cyclodehydrogenation of olefins to aromatics in FCC process. An addition of tetralin helps further cracking to produce single ring products.

Effect of support on properties of rhodium phosphide (Rh₂P) hydrodesulfurization (HDS) catalyst was examined. The HDS activity of Rh₂P catalyst was remarkably changed by the kind of support. The order of the activities was as follows; SiO₂ ≈ Al₂O₃ ≈ TiO₂ < MgO < ZrO₂. It was revealed that optimal reduction temperature for HDS activity of Rh₂P catalyst remarkably varied depending on the support. Furthermore, TPR, XRD and CO adsorption were examined to clarify effect of support on HDS properties of Rh₂P catalysts.

It is generally accepted that the conversion of ethanol to propylene favorably proceeds on Ni-doped FSM-16 together with Ni-doped MCM-41. However most of the studies on the conversion have been examined at a low concentration of ethanol by 1 kPa and the examination at a higher concentration of ethanol is needed for the purpose of practical use of the conversion. In the present study, a higher concentration of ethanol by 30 kPa is used for the conversion to reveal some problems under the reaction conditions.

In recent years, production of light olefins, especially propylene, from bio-ethanol which is a non-petroleum resource has attracted much attention from viewpoints of depletion of oil and environment concern. ZSM-5 type zeolite is known to exhibit an excellent performance in this reaction. However, there are only few reports concerning the cataltyic performance of zeolites other than ZSM-5 type zeolite. In this study, we investigated the ethanol conversion performance of TON type zeolite having 10 membered rings and only straight channels.

A mesoporous carbon material was synthesized and employed as a catalyst support for slurry-bed FT reaction. An iron catalyst supported on the mesoporous carbon showed a high catalytic activity than those supported on conventional carbon materials such as graphite or carbon black. The CO conversion was high even at a low reaction pressure (over 85% at 1MPa). Its catalytic activity was higher than that supported on microporous active carbon, implying that the presence of mesopores is important for a high activity in FT reaction.

It has already been reported that a composite catalyst, comprised of a methanol synthesis catalyst and a zeolite, shows a remarkably high catalytic performance in terms of CO conversion and C3+C4 selectivity. In this presentation, the effect of physicochemical properties of zeolite catalysts, such as crystal structures and chemical compositions, on their catalytic activities will be reported.
