This study is to explore and analyze the system efficiency and pipe network heating loss of district heating plant of Shenyang, China. The study did actual measurement survey on heating supply of Shenyang's Wulihe plant from 2007 to 2008. The study is to survey the steam and heating water according to their differences in medium, and it also introduces the calculation method of pipe network heating loss in theory. Due to the fact that medium temperature in steam is higher than in water, so it has higher heat losses than heating water. The efficiency of a heat exchange in heating plant is 95% and the efficiency of a boiler is 74.8%. Fuel expense is the largest expense in terms of systematic operation cost, averaging 64%. Look into the future, if every house hold installs a valve to adjust temperature, not only it can help people to save energy but also to decrease any heating losses from unbalanced heating.

All this time, Introduction of District Heating and Cooling system (DHC) has been promoted though the standpoint of the air pollution-prevention and the Energy Conservation based on advantage of scale. But in theses days, efficiency of low-capacity heat source system (Individual System) is improving. Therefore, it is necessary to review the energy conservation of DHC. This study is aimed to verity the conditons of Energy Conservation of DHC. In this study, the conditions of DHC for the energy conservation were recalcurated, considering the parameters related to the energy consumption of DHC Pipe System and the heat loss from DHC Pipe System. The load equalization and the load characteristic of the DHC were also considered. As a result, it was cleared that the length of DHC Pipe System is most effective in the parameters, and DHC cannot conserve the energy consumption with the highest load equalization in some case.

We present experimental results of the discharging characteristic on the downward blow-out nozzle in the upper part of the water tank and compare with the discharging characteristic on the upward blow-out nozzles. The average outlet water temperature with the downward blow-out nozzle is higher than the predicted value by the model, and when the inlet water velocity is fast its difference is big. This difference is smaller when we increase the nozzle number.

The thermal storage system using metal hydride driven by the utilization of waste heat of the municipal incinerator is investigated for air-conditioning of buildings. This system is useful for the global environment because of using the waste heat as an energy source in place of electrical power and using hydrogen as a refrigerant in place of fluoro-carbon. The waste heat is recovered from the incinerator and stored in the storage material which is loaded in the tank on the truck and transported between the municipal incinerator and the buildings. New system is proposed.

Sub-cooling system was introduced into IKEDA office of RICOH Co., Ltd. for an energy-saving technology of multiple packaged air conditioning units for buildings (PAC for buildings). This is the first case that Sub-cooling system using well water is applied to a whole building for air conditioning, so we verified the advanced performance of this system during one season. As a result, it was confirmed that the electric power consumption for air conditioning during one season was decreased by 9.8%, as compared with conventional system. And Sub-cooling system was able to reduce the peak of electric power consumption for air conditioning by 23.6%.

In this paper, we show the results of field survey about the fresh air introduction in office space adopted with multi-sprit type air-conditioning system. The results showed the trend that the total heat exchanger inhaled the supply air from indoor units in the heating period. They also showed the number of days that daily-averaged indoor CO_2 density exceeded 1,000ppm was increased according to outside temperature in the cooling period, and the number was more than that of the heating period. Therefore, there is the possibility that ventilation is not performed well in the cooling period.
