Semi volatile organic compounds (SVOC) have high boiling points such as over 240 degrees Celsius. These high boiling points make it difficult to quantify SVOC concentrations with accuracy. In this study, the new measurement method was developed and descriptions of the method are shown in this paper. The method is evaluating SVOC amount by adsorbent amount to a glass plate, and to stabilize the amount the wind channel unit and fogging unit were developed. Also this paper reports the experiments to determine measurement conditions. It was found the wind channel unit stabilizes and increases the amount of SVOC adsorption to the plate.

The disease occurs as a result of local and systemic skin hypersensitivity against environmental substances such as toxic inorganic substances. Here we show statistically significant improvement of the disease severity in patients hospitalized under standard treatments for 2 weeks in rooms with walls of diatomaceous earth compared with those in rooms without it. We therefore suggest that diatomaceous earth as the interior part of house containing is beneficial to patients with AD because of its excellent ability for humidity conditioning and gas absorbance.

TVOCs (total organic compounds) emission process of the drying building materials belongs to interior control diffusion mode, so it influences indoor air quality in a long-term. The mixing ventilation is one of widely used modes in actual ventilation engineering application, which inflow concentration relates to outflow concentration and mixing ratio of fresh air and return air. Meaning while, the inflow velocity is usually varied based on the occupant exposure environment temperature. The impact of environment temperature on TVOCs emission rate also needs to consider during the program and simulation as well. The objective of this paper was to develop a user program to simulate the indoor TVOCs concentration distribution with the consideration of the above affecting factors under an integrated environment of FLUENT/UNIX 6.1.22. TVOCs concentration distribution features of indoor and inside the material were analyzed. The average concentrations of two occupant exposure zones with respect to time and TVOCs emission rate were also investigated. At last, the residual TVOCs percentage in the material was presented. The program and simulation are helpful for further research of healthy occupant environment and designing proper ventilation.

Airflow, which is used as a control index for current general air conditioning systems, represents a stationary value or an average value, not including variable components such as air direction and air speed. In an actual environment, however, no airflow stays stationary, but instead, it always fluctuates. This system actively blows airflow to human bodies, and thereby changes the atmospheric environment periodically in a very short time. In this research, we conducted a study on understanding the room environment suitable for human, and a study on the effect of the breeze environment on productivity.

This study intends to clarify real usage of equipment and energy consumption in a residential house. This study researches a large number of households in 3 major cities via internet. This paper, as an interim report of the study, shows the purpose of the study, the methods, the characteristics of sample households, and real usage and conformability of heaters. This paper shows that a floor heating system has higher conformability and an air conditioner is used with higher temperature than a fan heater. The next paper will report a relation between usage of equipment and energy consumption.

It is not clarified that how and when people use heating apparatus in the bedroom in Kansai area. Moreover, we don't know which apparatus people use in their room, such as floor heating or air conditioner. Among various heating apparatus, we choose the floor heating system by the reason of its good thermal profile. In order to improve the thermal environment during sleeping by the floor heating system, researched the real states of heating usage and perform the questionnaire survey. And we estimate the influence of heating on thermal environment.

We conducted a subjective experiment in two experimental rooms. The rooms were a highly air-tight and insulated room, and a conventional energy saving room. In particular, we focused to the difference of heating floor panel between 60% and 30%. In addition, the difference between heating systems, the floor heating and the air-conditioner was also concerned. The recommended condition of air temperature and floor surface temperature for the highly and insulated room was shown comparing that for the previous type of room.

This experiment is done to see the effect that of a floor heater and an air-conditioner on female subjects. In the morning, those subjects keep at rest, and are exposed to the experiment for two hours in the highly air-tight and insulated room in the afternoon. The decrease of skin temperature, as which defined that the difference of the temperature between the navels and the right side of feet is above six degrees, is caused for each of heating system. The tendencies of skin temperature decreasing are divided into three types, one always keeps decreasing, one sometimes gets decreasing, the other dose not decrease any time.

This study deals with the heat release characteristics of human body under various horizontal airflow environments. In the stagnant environment, the rising airflow is generated around human body. In horizontal airflow environment, the rising airflow is thrown to the leeward side when the air velocity is high. Micro-climate around human body formed under horizontal airflow environment with the air velocity as low as 0.05m/s is almost the same as the stagnant environment. The value of convective heat transfer coefficient of human body in horizontal airflow environment with air velocity of 0.5m/s is 2.5 times than the one in stagnant environment.

Authors proposed a new three-dimensional human thermal model that satisfies the following four points. 1) The blood mass is conserved despite the vasoconstriction and vasodilation. 2) Three dimensional temperature distribution is produced in the human body. 3) Hot condition provokes increase of blood flow rate in superficial veins, 4) Thermal conduction in subcutaneous fat layer is calculated directly using temperature difference in this layer and the thickness of this layer. As the application of this model, the authors predicted thermal comfort in non-uniform clothing conditions reported by Olesen et al.(1988). The predicted comfort sensation agreed well with the reported results.
