In supporting the prevention of global warming, highly energy efficient cold/hot water-saving equipment has been developed and it has been increasingly introduced in houses. Especially, when it comes to the hot-water supply equipment in Japan, which takes up 30[%] of total domestic energy consumption per household, cold/hot-water saving with single-lever faucets, which very much relies on how individuals use such faucets, is put to the test. Through both an experiment with participants and Actual house actual survey and questionnaire survey on the Web, the study discusses a method for controlling the operation of single-lever kitchen faucets so as to prevent the waste of hot water, a method for using such faucets and the awareness of residents, and from the results acquired from the experiment and survey, this paper proposes a method for using such faucets and the necessity of energy conservation to be considered in product development.

Heat storage layer in this paper is to construct in the shallow-layer soil, and it is a possible system that installation cost of the heat storage layer is held, because to shorten excavation quantity and piping length is possible, and because again, the insulation structure is unnecessary using the small of thermal conductivity of the soil. It can be said that the formation of heat storage layer which stabilized the shallow-layer soil is possible, because there is the annual change of the soil temperature of the heat storage layer outside about 4℃.

In order to grasp water flow pattern in a hot water storage tank, we perform an experiment that visualize water flow in such tanks. Analysis of this visualization leads us to create a new model of turbulent thermal diffusivity for macroscopic simulation of thermal distribution in tanks. Our CFD analysis validates vertical profile of turbulent thermal diffusivity that this model assumes. As a result of tuning parameters in this model by means of CFD analysis and macroscopic simulation, We find that the simulation with the model predict thermal distribution much better than that without the model.

District heating and cooling (DHC) is expected to be a promising energy-saving measure. However, DHC has a number of problems in relation to building-side system, for example decreases in the temperature difference between the supply and return water carrying cooling and heating energy. The main reason is that the DHC plant and air conditioning systems of buildings are separately operated. Thus, this study proposes a new energy service in which the operator of the DHC plant controls air conditioning systems at the same time. We revealed that energy conservation measures at the demand side would decreases energy consumption by 4% by using a simulation model.

This paper describes performance of energy saving when the energy interchange between plural multiple buildings. In this study, we consider the building with a cogeneration system and the building without a cogeneration system. This study discusses energy interchange (heat interchange and power interchange) for some cases described below. One case is only heat interchanged between two buildings. The other case combine heat interchange and power interchange. Finally, the reduction ratio of primary energy is 4.22%.

In this paper "Productivity on Energy" defined based on a general idea of "factor" is discussed. And some cases of estimation of an index for evaluation of "Productivity on Energy" are performed in a District Heating and Cooling area. Index changes according to variables such as site planning, performance of energy system, amenity of the interior and exterior, and activity of the area. From results of estimation it is shown that index is available for energy and environmental evaluation in urban block areas.

In this paper, three types of the HVAC system and two types of the consideration of solar radiation method are compared under cooling condition in the open type office by CFD simulations. In case A, mixing ventilation with single-glass window and in case B, displacement ventilation with single-glass window was studied. In case C, the applicability of the D.V. perimeter-less system with displacement ventilation was examined. Furthermore, two cases of D.V. perimeter-less system which were installed a blind were compared under cooling condition by CFD simulations.

Displacement ventilation system(hereafter D.V.) can make indoor air quality better than conventional mixing ventilation(hereafter M.V.) does and can also save energy for HVAC. Generally, the required ventilation flow rate of D.V. is designed same as M.V. and supply air temperature of D.V. is higher than M.V.. When supply air temperature of D.V. is low, fan operating energy can be reduce, furthermore, duct size can be compact. However, when air diffusers designed for small under-temperatures supply low temperature, draught along the floor occurs in the occupied zone and thermal condition would become worse. In this paper, a full-scale experiment in a laboratory on D.V. was presented. The distribution of temperature was discussed with the experimental results. Several factors were investigated, i.e. discharged height of supply air and large under-temperatures, such as ambient air and low supply air temperature.

The wall type displacement air conditioning has been adopted at the hall(13m×21.6m×7m(h)) of the university. As dehumidification of OA by cooling is indispensable in Japan, reheating it was also needed to avoid the draft problem. To save this reheating energy, the half of return air was mixed directly with the cooled outdoor air. Through the subject experiments supported by nearby 200 people in total, it was clarified there were few problem related to indoor air quality and thermal environment.
