In connection with the increasing production of zinc and lead ores at Kamioka Mine the more capacity for zinc was necessary. For this object leaching and electrolytic zinc plants were nevly erected in 1943. The anthor was mainly charged in this enterprise from startment in April, 1939. The plants were completed and the operations commenced from June, 1943. Excellent results are obtained in these plants as the i ewestfasionedesign in Japan.
In this paper it is dealt with the essential points in the design as well as the operation data.
The roasting is complated in the special signed Wedge type furnace with eleven hearths; the sulphuric acid plant by contait process connected.
The leaching and electrolysis are carried out in the separate plant. In this plant the medium acid and medium current density prouss was applied. The conditions of electrolysis are H2SO4 150g/l, Zn 55g/l, temperature 25-40°C with the current density of 55 A/ft2.
The largest production of electrolytic, zinc in Japan is oftained with by products such as 98% sulphuric acid and metallic cadmium. Special high grade of zinc (+99.99% Zn) can be produced, suitable for die-casting alloys with superior qualities.

On this study, I measured the afinity of Cobalt-Arsenic system and Iron Arsenic system alloys by electrochemical process with a view to physico-chemical consideration of reaction in the treatment of Arsenical ore. Namely the electromotive force and its temperature gradient of the reversible cell:
pure metal (solid)/metalic salt (solid)/metal-Arsenic alloy (solid) is measured at about 400°C. From this I caluculated the decrease of free energy, chang of entropy and formation heat when each compound-Co3As2, Co2As, Co5As2, CoAs, Fe3As2, Fe2As, FeAs-are formed. And these results are obtained that the formation heat of Co-As system alloys are twice greater than that of Fe-As system alloys and is large difference between afinity of two systems.

The separation of tungsten concentrate and tin concentrate was studied by flotation from the table concentrate of the old waste tailing at the Otani mine, Kyoto Prefecture. This table concentrate contained 31-34% WO3 and 30-32% Sn. The experiments were perforthed with a 500-gram flotation machine of Kyodai type. The sulphide minerals were floated first by the addition of the Takasago Frother No.38 and amyl xanthate while schgelite and cassiterite were depressed by sodium silicate, and then the scheelite concentrate was floated with the Takasago Frother No. 38 and sodium oleate. The cassiterite concentrate was obtained as the flotation tailing.
The tungsten concentrate contained 72% W03 and the recovery was 99%. The tin concentrate contained 69% Sn and the recovery was 97%.
