The types of bimetal switches are classified into two, one is a slow make and break type and the other snap-acting type. Here is described a new type of snap-acting bimetal switch which can act by small temperature changes and still has a good contact pressure.
The main parts of this switch are; (1) two curved bimetal strips which are fixed uniaxially and move in opposite direction each other, (2) a floating lever which has an electric contact at its end, and (3) a curved spring. The spring force of outside bimetal acts at the end of the fioating lever by the aid of curved spring and supplies the contact pressure. The other component force balances to the spring force of inside bimetal. When the two bimetals are heated and the amount of their strain energy stored becomes sufficiently large, the floating lever moves and rotates at a high speed, and accordingly the contact opens.
It is apparent that the mechanism of this snap-action can be explained by solving the buckling behaviour of curved bimetal beams. For solving this problem we investigated into the instability of the spring system, setting up an equivalent diagram consisting of simple springs. Thus we introduced the conditions necessary to obtain good snap-acting switches.

A time schedule setting device for program controller, which consists of a carbon film resistor plate and a two-phase induction type servomotor, was developed. A time-schedule curve of any desired shape is drawn on the plate and a search needle follows it by means of a servomotoramplifier.
The displacement of the needle is taken out as a desired value of the controller. With this very device, simple but reliable program setting becomes possible without using complicate program cam.

The method developed by Packard and Varian was tested and improved in some points. A magnetic field of about one hundred gausses was applied to the proton magnetic moment in water for several seconds in such way as it was perpendicular to the earth's field and then removed in a short time. Macroscopically, the polarized proton magnetic moment then started precession toward the earth's magnetic field. The precession, however, decayed in a few seconds. As a result of this experiment, it was proved that an inhomogeneous field or paramagnetic impurities dissolved in water shorten the decay time. A new method of rotateing sample was tried to observe a signal which decays in a short time owing to inhomogeneity of field. This method is effective to observe a signal when the earth's field has a small gradient.
In order to simplify the measurement of signal frequncy a method of intensity modulation of oscilloscope was tried. A standard frequency "f" about twice as high as the resonance frequency "f₀" was imposed on the grid of oscilloscope. With this method, two decaying beat waves, which have opposite each other and a frequency of "f-f₀" were observed. From this frequency the earth's field was measured to the extent of two gammas.

化学反応装置においては,プロセスの特性が原因でサイクリングを起すことがある。これを除くために装置を実験的に変えることは費用がかかりすぎる。紙の上で計算によって解くことも時間と手数とが大変で不可能である。これに反し,反応を式で表わしアナログ計算機を用いると解決法を簡単に見出すことができる。この論文は,化学反応装置を代表する回路を作りアナログ計算機によってサイクリングを除去するいろいろな方法を試験したことをのべる。
