It is important for high performance ZrO2-C(graphite)material(ZG material)for submerged entry nozzle to conduct corrosion test correlating with actual using phenomena. In this study, we conducted corrosion test for ZG materials containing different ZrO2 amount and porosity using pig iron(carbon content 4.5 mass%)and steel (carbon content 0.1 mass%)to investigate influence of carbon content in molten metal used for corrosion test. As a result, corrosion rate decreased with increasing the amount of ZrO2 content in ZG samples when steel is used, but increased with increasing the amount of ZrO2 content when pig iron is used. The experimental results indicate that corrosion of carbon in ZG material is suppressed and wetting of molten metal on carbon in ZG material becomes worse by using pig iron. So, we concluded that corrosion test using steel correlated with actual using phenomena.
