Silicon carbide fiber-bonded ceramics(SiC laminates)were prepared by means of hot pressing techniques and their behavior upon water vapor corrosion at 200 to 300 ℃ was investigated. The surface of the specimens after the corrosion test was observed by SEM, and different corrosion behaviors were observed between fibers and on the lattice points where the fibers overlapped each other. Specific pits were observed on the fiber lattice points, imilar to the corrosion pits seen during metal corrosion. The weight loss was increased by accelerated particle shedding and fiber shedding due to corrosion between the fibers and corrosion pores created on the fibers/
