We are now in a new age of improving continuously the quality and efficiency of our social living and industrial styles by new technologies such as Big Data, IoT, AI, Robotics and so on. In particular, the construction of the next generation of healthcare system towards Society 5.0 is one of the reforms which is strongly promoted by the government and the Business Federation in Japan. In this paper we give a brief introduction on features of "Data Health Reform Plans" by the Ministry of Health, Labor andWelfare, first, and we point out urgent need for developing human resources called as health data scientists who have health data analytic talents and recognize the backgrounds of health data which they treat with, for the realization of "Data Health Reform Plans". In the second half of the paper, we introduce the Health Data Scientists (HDS) Association which has newly established for the purpose of development and certification of HDS.
Healthcare data is rapidly increasing as healthcare smart devices are developed. However, statistical analysis of healthcare big data is difficult due to heterogeneity in data quality and missing data. For such data, data mining methods such as clustering and dimension reduction may be useful as their preliminary analysis. In this paper, we show two illustrative applications; one is a principal component analysis of body composition data and the other is a latent topic analysis of hourly step-count dataset recorded by physical activity monitors. From those analyses, we proposed independent indices of body size and hidden obesity and extracted some diurnal patterns in ambulatory activities.
This study focuses on the evaluation of patient decision making that were rarely done in Japan. At present, advanced technology is being introduced in the medical field of Japan. The HAL medical lower limb type is also one of the advanced technologies. This study is targeted at patients with rare neuromuscular disease using HAL medical lower extremity type. This study purpose is about clarifying their evaluation after they have decided on a walk exercise treatment option. In medical decision making, selection involves risks. Depending on which option you choose, there will be differences in side effects and future quality of life. Nevertheless, research on the assessment of patient decision-making is scarce at home and abroad. The evaluation by this research is considered to be useful for the application of the medical field of science and technology in the future.
In this report, I introduce an initiative (customer co-creation marketing strategy) to build an application (use case) between companies that is the core of IoT / AI utilization, which is central to the promotion of platform business by Japanese electronics manufacturers.
Along with the progress of IoT (Internet of Things), changes are occurring in various areas. In this report, types of strategic themes effective in the IoT Era are analyzed. In addition, by Omron's case study, potentialities and issues of strategy using information as a strategic asset are considered.
IoT has attracted attention as a method for transferring the non-digital world to the digital world. And the launch of the IoT platform is generalized for entry into this field. However, the launch of the business based on the IoT platform has not been scaled and there is a big difference compared with the platform business by GAFA and the sharing economy represented by Uber, Airbnb. Meanwhile, it is anticipated that IoT equipment popularization will reach 20 billion by 2020. There is a big gap between these two situations. Therefore, in this paper, I explore the cause of the above gap and consider solutions for high added value specific to IoT field. Focus mainly on scaling the IoT system, such as appropriate choice of platform governance and trade-offs.
