In this study, we conducted an empirical analysis focusing on solo travel and experiential consumption for foreign visitors to Japan, examining the impact of “experiential consumption” and “facility development and enhancement” on customer satisfaction. The analysis revealed the following three key findings. First, in solo travel, there is a strong tendency to continually and repeatedly engage in experiential consumption to satisfy growth and learning desires. Additionally, in solo travel, safety and attentive, personalized support are prioritized over the functionality of ‘facilities.’ Furthermore, while satisfaction tends to plateau on repeat visits compared to the firsttime travel experience, it can be enhanced by engaging in novel experiential consumption.

This panel discussion brought together experts from academia and government to engage in a multifaceted discussion on the current status and challenges of international standardization activities, as well as strategies for cultivating the next generation of human resources. While the need to strengthen collaboration between academia and standardization was widely acknowledged, key issues such as academic performance evaluation systems, sustainable human resource development, and academic society governance were highlighted. In particular, the importance of demonstrating the synergy between research and standardization efforts, and the necessity of developing frameworks for recognition and evaluation, were emphasized. Moving forward, building trans-disciplinary platforms and establishing sustainable mechanisms through industry-academia-government collaboration will be essential. This discussion serves as a significant step toward positioning the TRAFST as a strategic hub for human resource development and policy proposals in international standardization.

The Japan Society of Computer Statistics, founded in 1986, promotes basic and a pplied research in statistical methodologies and software development. Since its inception, the Society has fostered a unique collaboration between corporate and academic researchers, exemplified by the alternating appointment of chairpersons from each sector. Despite its modest size, the Society actively organizes two annual conferences, publishes journals in both European and Japanese contexts, and hosts various seminars to advance the field.
