This study identifies the relationship between various characteristics of children’s homes (size, structure, preventive efforts, etc.) and workers’ awareness of the sexual problems experienced by the children within these facilities. In this study, we administered a survey to 148 care providers in 15 dormitories of 13 children’s homes in X Prefecture. The results indicated that the “mid-level or higher” workers identified “interpersonal relationships” to be
one of the main related factors in children’s sexual problems. The facilities, however, were shown to be proactively taking steps to provide sex education to the children. These results suggested that it would be necessary to consider some effective supports for care workers who deal with children’s sexual problems.
