    In this study, thermal load suppressant effect to the inside and outside of building covered with heat-treatment wood was evaluated with ten kinds of fabricated model structure with concrete. The surface temperature of the daytime wooden cladding became higher than the concrete surface, and thermal load to the atmosphere grew big. On the other hand, on after the evening when solar radiation became weak, the surface temperature decreased rapidly. The conductive heat flux was smaller than the concrete surface without the cladding, and transfer of heat was suppressed throughout the day.

    Among four sets of Standard Year Weather Data (CSWD, CTYW, IWEC, SWERA) in China, only CSWD measures solar radiation. We show that the cloud ratios of CSWD in May, June, and July, are significantly smaller than the other three sets and measured solar radiation in Shanghai. In addition, the cloud ratios of CSWD in May, June and July are outside the bounds of the sky condition classification, thus not physically realistic. In order to obtain a higher accuracy of the solar radiation for air conditioning load calculations, we refine the cloud ratio of CSWD that yields realistic values of cloud ratio.

    In this paper, we evaluated the COP of room air-conditioners with variable capacity compressor. The evaluation method and process to lead functions of electricity consumption and cooling / heating output were shown. Coefficients to lead approximate functions of input and output were shown as well.
    Next, we compared the COP calculated by functions mentioned above and the COP measured in another test institution. As a result, it was confirmed that evaluation COP was identical with measurement COP. It developed that annual electricity consumption of variable-capacity air-conditioners was less than that of popular air-conditioners, because the COP at partial load was high.

    PMV control system was applied for a ceiling radiation cooling/heating system utilizing groundwater as heat source/sink. The purpose of this study is to clarify that the power consumption of this radiation air-conditioning system is small as compared with convection air-conditioning system. Through the experiments of summer and winter seasons, the power consumption of the radiation system dropped to 50% of the convection system in summer and dropped to 65% in winter without power consumption of a makeup air unit.

    The spiral type heat exchanger using for ground source heat pump system is developed. The aim of the heat exchanger is to intensive heat exchange in the aquifer layer near the ground surface. It is often observed that the areas in which rich underground water exist, the flow rate of groundwater is relatively high in shallow underground. In order to use the flow to intensive heat exchange, length of the heat exchanger is planned between ten to twenty meters to insert the top aquifer from the surface. Performance of heat exchange is simulated in various flow rate and soil condition. Based on the simulation and construction cost study, cost effectiveness of the spiral type is made clear.

    The purpose of this study is to clarify the effect of energy saving and environmental improvement of the window applying the gelled PCM with elastomer. The gelled PCM is possible to solve a technical problem because of that characteristic properties. According to the experimental results, the light transmittance in the solid and the liquid phase shows 0.1 and 0.6[-]. The heat transmission coefficient of this window is about 6[W/m2/K] at the minimum. When the PCM window installed experimental housing, temperature fluctuation was reduced about 5[K] and the average reduction rate of energy consumption is 13.4[%], and 28.7[%] in maximum.

    To realize the directivity of the plans of the dwelling of Han race in North-eastern China, this report analyzes the relation between site gate, entrance and plan of the main building through the case study at Shuangshanzi village in Shenyang city. From the analysis of the actual condition of the road in contact with the site, the position of the main gate, the entrance, and the plan of the main building, it is pointed out that the dwelling in this district are built mainly based on the south side-oriented space concept of Han race, but on the other side, show various plan-types caused by the site location and the local lifestyle of this district.

    Two recent projects for the selection of planning heritages in USA and Australia are reported systematically. Great Places in America is a flagship program of American Planning Association, which purpose is to make people recognize the values of city planning by celebrating places of exemplary character, quality, and planning. Urban and Town Planning Thematic Heritage Study is a leading academic survey for extending the concept of national heritages by the team of planning historians commissioned by the Commonwealth Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts. By comparison between these projects, contrasting view points for planning heritages are reconfirmed.

    This study analyses the site planning, space design, utilization of local resources and facility management of main facility for downtown revitalization. The analysis clarifies following things; 1) the facility should be located along the axis of downtown and within reach of public transportation, 2) the facility should have variety of public spaces, 3) conversion of traditional architectures and the architectural design in proportion to townscape are significant, 4) single organization should direct space design and management of the facility.

    Local living environments in the areas which 87 Liaison Centers govern within the City of Sapporo were examined. It was found that the areas which were the low rate of population increase and decrease and high ratio of elderly population were more likely in the inconvenient areas for shopping and transportation from the result of analysis using the social index. Furthermore, area characteristics by the relations between the questionnaire results and the social index can be confirmed.

    Continuous update of city has become an important issue. We focus on intermediary organizations to promote the district renovation. In this paper, we consider the case of Matsumoto-cho, where an intermediary organization and neighborhood association have worked together, consequently to renovate 8 out of 15 vacant facilities into dwelling and shopping ones. We concluded that the technologies required to such an support organization were share of interest, district plan, operation of working groups, entrepreneurship support of community business, funding, visioning support, coordination of events, networking of external resources, and matching vacant house.

    Osu shopping street complex district in Nagoya has adapted against the changes of the external environments by the changes of their tenant components. This paper addresses the survey results of both sides of visitors’ shop-around behaviors and streetwise tenant components in Osu case in 2013, and analyzes on factors of the tenant transitions in comparison with the surveys in 2008. Our findings include: 1) the transition pattern among shop types during this period, 2) the spatial shift of the visitors’ behavioral distributions, and 3) some crowd indicators as potential factors causing the vigor tenant changes.

    The questionnaire about an old habitation place and a child’s habitation place was carried out to the person moving in the elderly-people welfare facilities in Beijing. From these results, the location tendency of selection of elderly-people welfare facilities is arranged. The child habitation place showed clearly that selection of an influence moving-in institution is influenced. It became clear that there are many situations of moving into the institution near the child among elderly people. Moreover, it arranged that the location tendency of selection of elderly-people welfare facilities changed with elderly people’s physical conditions.

    Since public finance has been tight while population composition is changing with low birthrate and aging, an efficient public service is required. In order to satisfy various needs, it is necessary to grasp the actual condition of distribution of population. This thesis aims at exploring the possibility of practical use of the new demographic statistics which can catch the population at the arbitrary point of the time and an arbitrary place. In this paper, we verified the usefulness of evaluation of regional peculiarities by mobile spatial statistics.

    The damage of the building was less than detached house, but the rate took shelter or moved out was higher. The residents did not report the damage of the common space to the owners nor management companies. They reported the damage of private space.
    Most of the reports were sent to the management companies. After the earthquake, residents prepared water, foods and toilet bags by their selves. The mutual assistance was inactive. The reduction of the rent was occurred at the rate of 47.9%. The appreciation to the management companies responded to the disaster was increased.

    The purpose of this study, from the view point of practical value, is to give fundamental information about electric system that contributes to rationalization of the maintenance plan. In this study, 6 hospitals were researched and the total 50,092 pieces of information were collected. In this data, the failures and troubles about electric system have 7,344 pieces. There are much them next to sanitation, an air conditioner. The mean time to repair is approximately two hours at the hospital of the large scale, and it was around 60 minutes at other hospitals. The mean time to repair of electric system is longer than other facilities.
    In addition, they are classified based on the building maintenance duties common specifications. That gives I suggest importance of the inspection in each inspection item or the need of the design improvement from this.

    The aim of this research is clarify the characteristic of the scale and the regional trend of the apartment house as Tsunami Evacuation Building, designation of which has been rapidly increasing after Great East Japan Earthquake in the local governments, especially the Great NANKAI Trough areas. The type of institutions of the Tsunami Evacuation Building can be classified into 14 functions and 59 uses. There is the most designation of the apartment house in that. But, refuge space of apartment house as Tsunami Evacuation Building is set a limit in the public space. That purpose, it’s very narrow. So, the apartment house is demanded that make the roof available.

    Web-based information sharing system, running on the Google Maps and with the 3D models mediated by the WebGL, is developed to make the most of information much easies and much more available.
    The system is composed of (1) server: collecting and storing data from sensor nodes and updating the state of client, (2) client: putting data into the map, visualizing the data in real time and working as terminal device.
    It shapes virtual space as a result of interaction to real space. It was found that the system provided information sharing much easies, and it promotes the use of information.

    The 1914 Akita Senboku earthquake, one of the major inland earthquakes in Akita prefecture, caused 94 fatalities and 640 collapsed houses. The Authors have been conducting literature surveys and estimated detailed damage distributions of this event. As for building damage only one report has been referred. In this paper, four reconnaissance reports at that time are newly added, and damage features of wooden houses and brick masonry buildings are discussed. It is also pointed out that the lessons of the 1896 Rikuu earthquake, which affected the same area, were examined in terms of their effects on housing damage.

    Development of tsunami evacuation building has become an issue in Japan. This paper is a report on planning issues on the basis of the actual use surveys of tsunami evacuation building in the Great East Japan Earthquake. There are a lot of areas without a building that has the structure and scale conditions. The target building decreases more when buildings are required to the stay. It is necessary to develop the method that tsunami evacuation buildings with different performance are located effectively. In addition, in order to make effective use of tsunami evacuation building, the evacuation training is required.
