Paracerella shiratki (Imadaté) has been redescribed based on the holotype and specimens of Imadaté’s Proturan Collection in The National Museum of Nature and Science, Tsukuba. The original description of this species has been corrected and supplemented with new characteristics, such as head chaetotaxy, porotaxy, and the shape of the male squama genitalis.
Paracerella tamurai sp. nov. has been described here based on the specimens obtained from northern Honshu, and examination of the
P.
shiratki specimens from Imadaté’s Proturan Collection and the collection of the Saitama Museum of Natural History revealed that this species was first identified and recorded in Hokkaido. The characteristics of
Paracerella shiratki include the absence of additional cephalic setae
d6, two pairs of anterior setae on tergites VII and VIII, absence of a posterior central seta (
Pc) on sternite VII, and presence of a pair of anterolateral pores (
sal) on sternites I–VII.
Paracerella tamurai sp. nov. is characterized by the presence of setae
d6 on the head and
Pc on sternite VII, four pairs of anterior setae on tergite VI, and two pairs of anterior setae on tergites VII and VIII. The findings of this study provide key to
Paracerella species.
