This study aimed to develop a health maintenance and promotion care model that helps female inmates
in their old age to focus on their own health and change their behavior, and to verify its effectiveness using
subjective indicators. The research method was an intervention study using four major items as the care model:
breathing exercises; oral care; back pain exercises; and hand washing. The study population consisted of 28 female inmates in the senile stage. The study period consisted of a basic level period, an intervention period, and a follow-up period. Subjective evaluations included pre- and post-comparison of daily living conditions and
periodontal symptoms. Subjective changes in inmates after the care model were summarized using hierarchical
clusters from word frequency analysis. The results showed significant improvement in the items of [sleep quality] and [periodontal disease symptoms]. The details of the constructs extracted as changes of Female Inmates in Middle-Aged Adults were [careful, good, importance, mind], [think, teeth, health], [feel, laugh, stress, learn,breathing], and [life, back pain exercises, positive, consider]. There were marked by positive behaviors and
positive mental changes toward health. This care model provided an opportunity for behavior change Female
Inmates in Middle-Aged Adults to look at their future from the perspective of health.
