We compared Bacteria barrier(BFE%), physical characteristics, a feeling of wearing and working efficiency in contrast with two latest developed synthetic fabrics(polyester), the cotton fabric and the non-woven fabric. We obtained the following result on the above test. We gauged Bacteria barrier in U.S. Military Specification(M-36954-C)by using three kinds of challenge bacteria(Staphylococcus aureus, Serratia marcescens and Staphyloccus epidermidis). In this result, the new fabric(polyester 100%)showed the highest numerical value in BFE% as compared with other materials. Fabrics of polyester 100% and polyester 65%(cotton 35%)were superior with respect to strength, lint free and water repellent in physical characteristics. Then, surgical gown of polyester 100% which was wearing within the artificial weather room had poor ventilation ability during the beginning but due to the passage of time and discharge of humidity, temperature and humidity did not have a remarkable change. New fabrics which was developed as surgical gown can be recommended for reusable materials.
